How It Works
Direct Primary Care & Medicare: Understanding the Difference
Turning 65 and enrolling in Medicare can bring a lot of questions, especially if you’ve never had to think about how Medicare and Direct Primary Care work together. The good news is that having Medicare doesn’t mean you have to give up the personalized primary care experience you value.
Family Tree Primary Care operates through a Direct Primary Care membership. You pay a monthly membership fee directly to our practice for the primary care services included in your membership. Family Tree does not bill Medicare or other health insurance plans for those services.
Medicare remains separate and may still be used for covered healthcare services outside our practice, including specialist care, hospital services, emergency care, and other eligible medical needs.
When you enroll in Medicare, it may seem like your Direct Primary Care membership is no longer necessary. However, your Family Tree membership gives you something valuable: a personal relationship with a provider who knows you, gives you their full attention, and remains accessible throughout the year.
Direct Primary Care does not replace Medicare, and Family Tree does not provide Medicare plan or insurance advice. We simply provide a different kind of primary care experience, one centered around time, access, and relationships.
